We just added support for REST in Jootbox. Welcome to 2006!  This should help us with some “mobile” platforms we are currently working on.  More to come later.

Tonight we launched a brand new version of Jootbox.com focused around getting us closer to having every feature you would expect on a desktop music player, in a browser.  Below are just some of the new features we have added.

So what does jootware do when we are not working on Jootbox? Pretty much the same thing any group of nerdy software developers would do… Go to movies featuring comic book heros. Of course we are talking about the dark knight and yes we should have seen it earlier but we HAD to see to see it in IMAX… Anything else would be uncivilized

Hey All,

Apologies on the lack of updates recently.  We were in the process of migrating all our servers over to the amazon cloud completely.  We now operate 100% on amazons cloud servers.  During this time we were not doing alot of feature work.

With that now completed we can focus on bringing you more features and fixing issues with the current system.  We solved a number of bugs with the lastest build and the migration to amazon.  Additionally this weekend we added support for shuffle and repeat.  These features were asked for by alot of our users so there you go.  We also added support for moving the grid to keep the currently playing song in focus another big ask.

Checked in some new fixes to the mp3 player which should solve some of the compatibility problems we were having on certain mp3s and m4as as well as some issues reading id3tags. Also we added support for dragging ahead as a song is loading. A few people were asking for this feature so there you have it. Continue to send in you feature requests and comments. We feel the users should drive the design and feature set of Jootbox.com so sounding off to us is invaluable.

Finally some neat usage numbers to report:
4000+ songs uploaded (3500+ are unique)
5+ days of music have enjoyed
2000+ songs listened to!

These numbers aren’t huge but given the small number of people we have opened up the site to we are very pleased.  We are continuing to open up the site to more people as we make fixes.

So we worked all day and got another build up. Here are the latest fixes:
- Uploading of larger files - Users should no longer be getting an error when uploading larger files. The limit on file size is still 25 megs, but anything under should now work.
- Added Sorting Triangles - You can now see which sort order you are in by looking at the triangles in the column headings
- Just Press Play - Login and press play and it will play the first song in your library
- Stats - Now under the My Account tab, you can see more stats about Jootbox.com
Next we are going to tackle the bugs in the music player and also the playlist ordering. Try to upload as much as you can in the next few days so we can test how the uploader is working.

So we went live with an update to Jootbox.com today. Here are a list of the bugs we have fixed so far:
- Added forgot password - You can now change your password from the MyAccount tab. Also, if you forget your password, we will send you a new one. There should now be a “Forgot Password” option from the main page.
- Fixed the sort order - When you sort by artist, it will also sort by album so that all albums show up together.
- Fixed delete song refresh - When you deleted a song or multiple songs, the playlist or library will refresh and resize.
- Added scroll support for mac - You can now scroll using a mac and the trackpad
- Remember Me - You can now have Jootbox remember you so it will automatically log you in.
So log in and try some of these fixes and see if they broke anything else. Look for another update to the uploader coming soon.
